In iCalamus, you can basically create and lay out the cover of your book in the same document which contains the book content pages. You may already know that iCalamus even supports different page formats in a document.
At the outset, we recommend to use a separate document for the
cover. Maybe your cover will be printed colored, but the content only
comes in black and white. Perhaps the cover has to be laid out by
another person who shouldn't carry along
the book content all
the time.
In general, you should keep in mind that the cover should form an imaginary unit with the content. The font faces used in the book content should blend with the font used on the cover, or even be identical or related. It also makes sense to consider the book's type area (see above) when laying out the cover.
