If you want to use a Calamus SL document in iCalamus, you will have to 'divide' it into its components, or export it as RTF or PDF, and place it from one of these formats into iCalamus. RTF content can be edited in iCalamus directly, while PDF content can only be placed at the moment.
Calamus SL documents contain text, images, vector graphics, lines, and raster areas. The first two of these components can be exported by use of basic Calamus SL tools.
Text can be exported as ASCII text or RTF (see below). When you export ASCII text with the ASCII Import/Export driver, you should choose a Special Character Converter which converts the special characters from Calamus SL format into Apple ASCII. Then you can easily use the text in iCalamus text frames.
Images can be exported in various formats like TIFF or JPEG. These image formats can be placed directly and without problems into iCalamus.
Vector graphics from Calamus SL documents should be exported as EPS, PS, or PDF from Bridge. You can place these formats into iCalamus.
Lines and Raster Areas from Calamus SL documents should be re-designed in iCalamus as long as they have not been used for complex layouts. Treat complex layouts built with lines and raster areas like vector graphics (see above).
If you want to use text with text style information from a Calamus SL document in iCalamus, we recommend the RTF export. The imported RTF text can be edited afterwards in iCalamus.
If a Calamus SL document layout needs to be preserved in iCalamus, we recommend that you export the document with Bridge PRO to PDF. Alternatively, you can export it as PS, and convert the PS file with external tools into PDF. These PDF files can be placed 1:1 into iCalamus documents.
