You can't wait to import your text into the document and start
working with it? Just a moment, please. You have a two page document
with two empty text frames now, and you probably feel that we have
proceeded in a very structured manner, but, so far, nothing has
happened at all.
We would like to prepare things in order to let the text flow automatically from one text frame to another when it is imported later. This is no big deal, but you have to do it.
Select the left text frame and do a [Control]-click on the piping
knob at the left frame border. You will then see a context menu, where
you can only select one menu item. Please click on the menu item
Automatic Content Piping from Previous Page
.
Now do a [Control]-click on the piping knob at the right frame
border of the same text frame. Switch on the menu item Automatic
Content Piping to Next Page
.
Please repeat these steps for the text frame in the right document page.
You have now adjusted the two text frames to be not only linked to each other, but also linked with other text frames automatically when you add more pages that have text frames prepared like these. So let's do it right now.
Select the Pagina-infovenster
, and choose the action menu
item Voeg nieuwe pagina's toe
, or click on the [+] button in
the Pagina-infovenster
. You will then see the dialog Insert
Pages
. Take a moment to become familiar with the parameters of
this dialog.
Assume your book will grow up to about 128 pages. So please change
the number of new pages to 128, which should be inserted behind page
2, of course. Leave all other parameters unchanged, but switch on the
check box Use layout
(from pages: 1 – 2). This is a
magical switch. In a few seconds, you will see why.
After you have closed the dialog with [OK], 128 new pages are added to the document immediately. You will not only find the desired text frames in all new pages at their proper position, but all text frames in the whole document are already linked, frame to frame, page to page. Almost perfect conditions for importing the text into your document now. Do you agree?
